To begin writing your books, go to http://tarheelreader.org
You must register to write books. (You can read any book without registering.) 1) At the bottom right of the main screen, click on “Register.” (All of the links for this set of directions are at the bottom right of the main screen.) 2) When the registration screen pops up, fill in all your information –choose a user name. Tar Heel will send you your password. 3) Please request invitation code here: 4) Shortly after, you will receive your information by email. Log into the account and click on Write a Book! Read through some Tar Heel Reader books.
Note how better books have a clear ending.
- Examine them for patterns

- If you are not good with grammar/spelling, get someone to check your work. You are contributing to an international library.
- Keep the structure simple and/or predictable, for example labels of illustrations: apple, boy, cat, dog
- Predictable: think "brown bear"
